The legendary Azteca stadium, where the 2026 World Cup will begin on June 11, will transform for one night into an Airbnb accommodation to welcome four fans eager to meet the colossus, the tourist platform announced on Tuesday (17).
And the host designated to welcome the four guests, who will be chosen in a draw, is the biggest star of Mexican football, Hugo Sánchez, winner of five Pichichi Trophies, the crown of top scorer in the Spanish championship.
The accommodation platform’s portal promotes “Sleep at the Colossus of Santa Úrsula”, as Mexicans know the stadium located in a neighborhood of the same name.
To participate in the exclusive draw, reservations open on March 23rd and are completely free. The stay will be from April 4th to 5th.
They also promise tickets to return to the opening game of the 2026 World Cup, in which Mexico will host South Africa.
“Spend the night in your own luxury suite inside the Mexico City Stadium to wake up to stunning views of the pitch,” says the promotion announcement.
The advertisement is accompanied by images of the stadium, both the field and the facilities, which include a living room with a wall-to-wall television and a minimalist-style bedroom.
“Those lucky enough to be able to book will be able to live and live here at the stadium,” says Sánchez in a post from the platform on the social network TikTok.
Guests are promised a VIP tour of the stadium and a conversation with the well-known former Mexican goalscorer.
The Azteca, undergoing a full-throttle renovation for its third World Cup, after hosting the 1970 and 1986 World Cups, will reopen on March 28 with the friendly between Mexico and Portugal.
