The iconic Maya the Bee, who was loved by generations of children, has her Slovak voice, and that is the voice of the actress Eva Večerová. Her story is more surprising than you might expect. Eva Večerová got to this unforgettable character through an audition, for which approximately thirty “voices” came.
It is interesting that they did not meet each other at all. Each arrived at a different time, without the possibility of finding out who her competition was. The surprise was even greater when the verdict was announced to her after a week. The director simply told her that it is she who becomes Maya the Bee, a character who ultimately fundamentally influenced her entire life.
As she herself admits, she watched her only on Austrian television, which was possible due to the proximity of the border with Austria, and she did not even think that one day she would be lent her own voice. Dubbing lasted more than two years and became an important chapter in her career and life. In addition, work was done completely differently than today. Actors stood next to each other, reacting to each other and creating dialogue live, not separately as nowadays.
