SP City Hall has record revenue from events – 03/20/2026 – Panel

The City Council recorded a 672% increase in ISS (Service Tax) collection on events such as festivals, shows, congresses and fairs in the city, between 2015 and 2025. The jump was from R$41.8 million to R$323.5 million last year.

The contribution to the city’s economy and the generation of jobs and revenue are mentioned by the city hall as the main reasons for promoting major events.

As the Panel showed, this was a l this year. In 2025, the municipality charged R$2.7 million from the organizers of the musical event.

According to management (), São Paulo remains one of the most attractive cities in the world for major events.

The city hall cites as an example the fact that Brazil hosted NFL games for the first time, the American football league.

The municipal management also lists the second edition of The Town, the Formula 1 Grand Prix, Lollapalooza, Formula E, São Paulo Fashion Week and Carnival, among others.

The most significant advance in ISS collection occurred from 2022, after the end of the pandemic. The city’s calendar of strategic events increased from 25 four years ago to 75 currently.

The city also had a record number of tourists, largely due to the events, with 47.2 million in 2025. There was growth of 25% compared to 2024.
