Firefighters ask the President and Prime Minister for urgent hearings

The National Council of the League of Portuguese Firefighters (LBP) approved a manifesto in which it requests urgent hearings from the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister to inform them of the difficulties experienced.

In a statement, the company justifies the request by highlighting that “the associations run serious risks of compromising their financial capabilities and, consequently, the operational response to help citizens”.

The firefighters ask for “immediate support from the Government and political parties with parliamentary seats”, demanding “immediate renegotiation” with the Ministry of Health of the agreement with the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) and the review of the transport table for non-urgent patients.

The manifesto also asks the Minister of Internal Administration to order the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) to present a national program to support volunteering, in close connection with the LBP.

After today’s meeting in Guarda, the League will meet the National Council again on April 18, in Ponte de Sor, and promises to make “firmer” decisions.
