Make petrol and diesel really cheap in one go. Sounds too good to be true? That’s exactly what FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl is now promising in a new plan that he presented on Saturday. Diesel should cost 1.50 euros again in Austria and premium gasoline should only cost 1.30 euros. Drivers currently have to shell out a little more than two euros for diesel and 1.85 for petrol. That would be a lot of relief, especially compared to the plans of the governing parties ÖVP, SPÖ and Neos. They’ve been working on a fuel price cap for days that is supposed to reduce costs by just ten cents.
