The Israeli Army reported this Monday the beginning of a broad wave of attacks against the infrastructure of the “Iranian terrorist regime” in Tehran, according to a statement released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The offensive occurs hours after Israel reported the activation of its defense systems to intercept a new barrage of missiles launched from Iran towards its territory.
Through its official Telegram channel, the IDF indicated that precautionary alerts were sent to mobile phones in the affected areas, urging the population to go to shelters and remain there until further notice.
The Israeli emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA) indicated that its teams were deployed at different points where incidents were reported, with no fatalities reported so far.
However, paramedics treated several people with minor injuries suffered while seeking shelter and others affected by anxiety crises.
In parallel, the Israeli Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, stressed that the country’s military efforts are currently focused on Iran, while the front in Lebanon, where operations against Hezbollah continue, is considered secondary.
Zamir also warned that the military campaign will be “prolonged” and that Israel is prepared to intensify both its offensive and defensive operations in the region.
