Former French Socialist Prime Minister Lionel Jospin dies

The former prime minister Lionel Jospin, a prominent figure in the died this Monday at the age of 88, as announced by his family.

In addition to being head of the Cohabitation Executive between 1997 and 2002 during the presidency of the conservative Jacques Chirac, Jospin was first secretary of the Socialist Party, deputy and minister in the governments of François Mitterrand.
