Erik Tomáš spoke about the potential consolidation package: Will it have an impact on people and companies again?

In the next potential consolidation package, the government is not planning any more measures that would affect people or companies. Government representatives informed the social partners about this on Monday at the meeting of the Economic and Social Council (HSR) of the Slovak Republic, which discussed 32 points.

It is a very important conclusion and finding from this tripartite, with the fact that if there is any consolidation, it will be exclusively on the side of state spending or order in state systems,” said Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Family Erik Tomáš (Voice-SD), who is also the chairman of the HSR, after the tripartite negotiations.

According to Tomáš, the Ministry of Labor will continue to make such an order, because they are successful, for example, in the fight against fictitious PNs. “When last year we saved the state 140 million euros in the fight against fictitious PNs, it turns out after the first almost three months that we are continuing at this pace and this year we will save approximately the same amount compared to last year.” he specified.

According to the Minister of Labour, the Ministry of Finance should resolve the situation with retained extra payments for holidays during which work leave has been cancelled, with an amendment to the Act on Public Holidays as a response to the Act on Consolidation. According to Tomáš, it is not true that he should have the solution in his hands by amending the Labor Code. “A package of laws called Lex consolidation was presented by the Ministry of Finance, and on November 3 (2025) at a tripartite meeting, it was concluded that if anyone is to resolve the situation, it will be the Ministry of Finance by amending the Act on Public Holidays, which is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture.” said Tomas.

According to him, if the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance have decided to keep people’s bonuses, then as the chairman of the tripartite party he can respect that. “Social partners, especially employers, raised a reservation against such an attitude. A representative of the Ministry of Finance was present, who will interpret this reservation to the Minister of Finance,” Tomáš added.
