Former TV announcer Alena Heribanová (70) took part in the 2025 Crystal Wing awards ceremony at the Slovak National Theater in Bratislava on Saturday evening (March 21). The charming presenter, author and announcer received a special award. However, the legend of the TV screens admitted to the website that is considering the end of his career.
In her thank-you speech, she also mentioned viewers, members of television crews and colleagues. “Together we created a piece of work under the roof of Slovak Television, this Crystal Wing belongs to all of you, whom you only know from the headlines or maybe not at all, but I value your work immensely.” said one of the most prominent personalities of Slovak television culture, who has been on the screens since 1979.
Heribanová is the author of several projects. The talk show Anjeli strážni, which has been on the air since 2004, is considered to be the pinnacle of her television work. “I was thinking that I would end my career this year, voluntarily, not by force,” she made herself heard just after the award ceremony.
The legendary TV face has a simple explanation for his decision. He wants to leave the scepter to the younger ones. “I really wish my young colleagues that they succeed at least as much as I do, and that what they plan to do in life works out for them,” she dedicated kind words to her followers.
Heribanová wants to devote herself fully to her family. She is the proud mother of two daughters, Tamara and Babsa, who gave birth to three grandchildren. The older Tamara is the mother of ten-year-old Emília, and the younger Babsy has an 8-year-old daughter, Izabelka, and a 3.5-year-old son, Zaky. “I want to back out of this life because I really appreciate having them and I want to be present in their lives as they grow.” she admitted that she wants to enjoy the role of grandmother to the fullest.
However, daughter Tamara does not believe her words. “Well then. But I don’t know. When she enjoys it and I feel that she enjoys her work very much and it is meaningful for her… I don’t quite know if it’s just idle talk that she just wants to be a grandmother. She is over 70 years old and has so much energy that sometimes I feel like I could take more from her. I know it’s because she does things that fulfill her and make her happy,” she said honestly.
