Alina Burns
“Kill all the Jews and Muslims in Britain, please.” Alina Burns is not weird, she distributes her hatred left and right. He searched on Google “at what age can you buy an axe”, and he ended up buying it. It wasn’t for chopping wood.
The British teenager Alina Burnsaged 18, was taken to court in Bristol on Monday, accused of attempted murder and the crime of terrorism, after in August last year she had attacked an Iranian Kurd with an axe, outside a barbershop in the British city.
Video surveillance footage captured inside the establishment shows Burns delivering an ax blow aimed at the neck of a Mohammed Mahmoodiwhich turns and lowers at the last moment.
A teenager then tried to hit again the 27-year-old Kurd, who nevertheless managed to disarm her, only escaping with painful scratches on his neck and face, tells .
Burns ended up being arrested by police officers who were on patrol nearby. A scalpel and several darts were found in his possession.
When the agent who detained her asked if she had swung the ax at the man, she responded affirmatively. When asked why, the teenager replied: “I wanted to cut his neck“.
The police discovered an email on his computer in which he wrote to someone he knew “kill all Jews and Muslims in Great Britain, please”, and messages in which he stated that he had finally realized his role in life: “I am the incarnation of hell, destined to annihilate everything what is sacred.”
As the prosecution told Bristol Crown Court, Alina Burns had “a desire for a White Englandachieved, if necessary, through terror“. The young woman has an English flag hanging above her bed, and is part of the far-right group Patriotic Alternative.
In one of the messages found on his computer, he refers to the execution of a “plan”, and says that He wanted “all the merit and all the glory”. Analysis of his diary revealed notes on Germany, Adolf Hitler and the weaponry used by the Germans in World Wars I and II.
Before the attack, on July 30 last year, the teenager searched on Google “at what age can you buy an ax in the UK” and “how to correctly use an ax for self-defence”.
On July 31st he searched for videos on YouTube, including one about Patrick Crusiuswhich killed 23 people in a mass shooting at a supermarket in the United States, and explicit videos of graphic violenceincluding one of a man fatally stabbed in the neck, as well as research into how to use darts as a weapon.
The day before the attack, she sent herself an email with the subject “The dawn of the civil war”, in which she wrote: “The territory is reconquered through terror. It is better for them to flee in fear than for them to expel us from our own home.”
Burns, who denies having a terrorist motive, pleaded guilty of attempted murder and three counts of carrying a bladed weapon in a public space.
In court, he admitted that he had bought an ax in a hardware store on the day of the attack, and declared that he wanted “to kill or injure a man“. During a psychological assessment, a mental health technician asked her how she felt about being arrested for attempted murder. She responded: “It seems fair to me“.
When asked if he had thoughts or plans to harm other people, he stated that “I would do it again, but to be successful“, and asked if the attack “had already been in the news”. In May, the sentence that the judge will decide to impose on him will appear in the news in the meantime.
