At the beginning of March, The NGO Human Rights Watch (HRW) accused the Israeli Army of on residential areas of a locality located in the southern lebanonwhich represents a violation of International Law.
HRW researcher in Lebanon, Ramzi Kaiss, warned that “the illegal use of white phosphorus by residential areas is extremely alarming and will have terrible consequences for civilians.”
Specifically, the NGO verified up to seven photographs that would prove its launch in southern Lebanon. In one of them you could see at least two white phosphorus ammunition launched on March 3 by artillery on a residential neighborhood in the Lebanese town of Yohmor.
Precisely, the use of this type of prohibited weapon and the damage it causes to the population has recently been referred to. Teresa Aranguren, Spanish war reporter with decades of experience in the Middle East.
“Those injured by white phosphorus have no cure”
In an interview on Furor TV, the journalist recalled that the use of white phosphorus in Lebanon by the Israeli Army is not new. “I was in the 1982 invasion of Lebanon. I know what Israel did there. It was the first time I saw white phosphorus weapons,” he said.
In that sense, Teresa Aranguren has narrated that “I saw the wounded from the white phosphorus weapons and I remember what a Palestinian doctor told us who had studied at the University of Santiago de Compostela: “They have no cure because the phosphorus continues to burn the flesh until it reaches the bone.”
Based on those events that she herself was able to witness, the war reporter has made it clear that “These weapons that are now being used were already used in 1982 by the Israeli army against the civilian population in the siege of Beirut. “What is happening now with Lebanon has happened again and again.”
