Iran has not confirmed participation in the negotiations: Trump speaks of fears for the lives of the negotiators

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday again insisted that Iran participate in peace talks with the US. According to him, Tehran rejects these claims for fear that the Iranian negotiators would be killed by “their own people”. TASR informs about it on the basis of the AFP agency.

  • Donald Trump claims that Iran is participating in peace talks with America.
  • Trump suggests that Iran’s negotiators are afraid of being killed by their own people.
  • White House spokeswoman Leavitt confirmed ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran.
  • Leavitt warned that if the talks fail, the US will hit Iran harder.
  • Iran officially denies the talks and says the Americans are negotiating alone.

“By the way, they are negotiating (with us) and are very anxious to make a deal. But they are afraid to say so because they think their own people will kill them.” Trump said at a dinner for Republican members of Congress.

Earlier on Wednesday, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt confirmed Iran’s participation in negotiations with the United States, despite reports that Tehran has rejected a 15-point US plan to end US-Israeli attacks. If the negotiations with Iran are not successful, Trump, according to Leavitt, “is going to make sure they get hit harder than ever.”.

The US president first reported on the negotiations between Tehran and Washington on Monday and has since repeated his claims several times. However, Iran denies that such talks have taken place. Army spokesman Ebráhím Zolfagár said on Wednesday that the United States is negotiating with itself.
