Senator tries to escape a police approach with an irregular car; see video

According to the PM, Alexandre Luiz Giordano had an expired driver’s license and introduced himself only as ‘federal’ when he refused to leave the vehicle.

O senator Alexandre Luiz Giordano (Podemos-SP) tried to escape a police approach while driving a vehicle with irregularities on Monday morning (23) in the north of São Paulo.

According to the PM, the team was patrolling along Alameda Afonso Schmidt when they identified a Black Land Rover circulating without license plates and with “giroflex” on. During the approach, the politician initially introduced himself only as “federal” and refused to leave the vehicle.

Still according to the police, after insistence, the driver identified himself as “senator of the Republic”but continued to refuse to present documents.

O senator even made threats to the team during the action. “Are you recording? Then you’ll see,” said Alexandre after the military police’s operational cameras began recording.

The PM reports that, at a certain point, the senator got back into the car and tried to leave the placeinvading the sidewalk and almost hitting one of the police officers. The vehicle was located shortly afterwards on nearby roads, with support from other teams.

After checking, the police found that the car had no visible license plate, although the license plates were inside the vehicle, and that the Giordano’s National Driving License (CNH) had been expired since February 2024.

The senator was fined for driving without license plates, with an expired driver’s license and for irregular use of lights. He and the vehicle were later released.
