Former first lady stated that Jair Bolsonaro should not discuss politics during his recovery at home
The former first lady said this Friday (27.mar.2026) that the decision of minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, that for 90 days the former president (PL) “it was crucial”. He declared that the former head of the Executive “he wasn’t even supposed to leave home precisely because of his health situation, his age”.
“He can be with us again, because we know, he has different situations and it’s important for him to be with us. Being at home, he also has this psychological comfort, of us being able to be there preparing what he wants to eat. When he was in prison it was kind of an imposition”these.
Michelle says that “there is no need for now,” to have a new one: “We have 90 days, so I believe things will adjust”.
The former first lady declared that the former chief executive should not deal with politics while he is recovering.
The former president was discharged from hospital this Friday (27th March) after being hospitalized for 14 days at the DF Star Hospital, in Brasília (DF). He left the hospital at around 10 am and in Jardim Botânico, around 20 km from the hospital unit. He will be under house arrest, which comes into effect from this Friday (27th March). Bolsonaro had been hospitalized since March 13, when he fell ill at the 19th Military Police Battalion of the Federal District, known as Papudinha, where he was serving a sentence of 27 years and 3 months in prison. with bilateral bacterial bronchopneumonia.
HOUSE ARREST
When granting house arrest, Moraes cited the health status of the former head of the Executive, who has had successive medical complications in recent months, and that of the Attorney General’s Office.
Moraes stated that, according to medical literature, the total recovery time in the 2 lungs of an elderly person (the former president is 71 years old) can last from 45 to 90 days. “After this period, the presence of the necessary requirements for maintaining humanitarian house arrest will be re-analyzed, including medical expertise if necessary”said the minister. Moraes also determined that:
- electronic ankle bracelet – Bolsonaro will have to wear an electronic ankle bracelet;
- residents of the house – Michelle, Laura Bolsonaro and Letícia Marianna Firmo da Silva (Bolsonaro’s stepdaughter) do not need authorization because they live in the same house;
- children’s visits – Flávio, Carlos and Jair Renan Bolsonaro will be able to visit their father “under the same legal conditions as the prison establishment”that is, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 8 am to 11 am, from 11 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 4 pm;
- other visits – all those who are not direct family members, lawyers and doctors are suspended for 90 days;
- service – doctors will not need to ask for authorization for visits;
- Bolsonaro’s health – if necessary, the former president may be hospitalized without the need for a prior court decision if there is medical advice;
- use of devices – Bolsonaro will not be able to use a cell phone, telephone or any other means of external communication “directly or through third parties”;
- visitors magazine – cell phones of anyone visiting the former president must be kept by police officers;
- images and social networks – Bolsonaro will not be able to use social media or have photos and videos published.
