The comedian Fabio Porchat reflected on the Brazilian social scenario during his participation in the summer episode of the program Na Palma da Mari.
Porchat argued that, although the public debate is ongoing, daily life on the streets still demonstrates the ability for different groups to coexist.
Asked about the difficulty of “making people laugh” in times of , Porchat put the criticism into perspective and said that “real life is not boring, virtual life is”.
When citing a statement by Chico Anysio, the comedian recalled that the institutional censorship of the military dictatorship was a much more severe obstacle than the current complaints on social media.
“You want to challenge yourself, you want to find the observation that no one heard”, he explained, minimizing what he called the “annoyance” of those who try to guide each joke.
The comedian cited a personal experience from when he was recently on a beach in Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro. “It was a scene that moved me. Crowded beach, sunny weather… and no one was fighting about politics there,” he said.
“This is the Brazil that everyone loves, that everyone is passionate about. Nobody out there loves the Brazil that makes other people’s lives hell,” said the comedian.
