Donald Trump, President of the USA
Trump says if there is no deal he will “completely obliterate” all power plants, oil wells and Kharg Island. Head of US diplomacy warns: “negotiations could fail”.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Monday that the US is in “serious” discussions with the “new and more reasonable” regime of Iran, suggesting that the regime change he wants in Tehran is already complete.
The statement was recorded in writing on the American leader’s social network, Truth Social, where Trump assured that he is preparing to “end military operations in Iran.” But he left a warning: if a ceasefire is not agreed, the US will attack targets that it “purposely has not yet ‘touched’”.
“If for some reason an agreement is not reached soon, which is likely to happen, and if the Strait of Hormuz is not immediately ‘open for business,’ we will conclude our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of its electrical power plants, oil wells, and Kharg Island (and possibly all of its desalination plants), which we have purposely not yet ‘touched,’” Trump.
“This will be in retaliation for our many soldiers and others that Iran massacred and killed during the former regime’s 47-year ‘Reign of Terror’,” concluded the US president.
Iran has acknowledged that the messages are being transmitted through Pakistani intermediaries, but denies direct involvement in the negotiations. a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, cited by , classified the US proposals as “excessive”.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told the government needs to prepare for the “probability” that negotiations will fail. Rubio wouldn’t reveal who the “new leaders” Trump talked about are because “it would probably get them into trouble with some other groups inside Iran,” but he said that at the end of the day, we need to see if those people end up being the ones in charge.”
