Federal deputy for Minas Gerais states that change is a “return to origins”; exchange takes place in the final stretch of the party window
The federal deputy (PDT-MG) left the party and joined the Psol (Partido Socialismo e Liberdade). The change occurs in the final stretch of the party window — a period in which deputies can change parties without losing their mandate — and reflects, according to the parliamentarian, the search for greater political and ideological alignment.
When confirming the change, Duda thanked the old party, on which he built part of his recent trajectory, and highlighted the need for change. “Politics has these things: change to start over. I continue to take laborism and everything I learned wherever I go”he stated.
“Return to origins”
For Salabert, joining the Psol represents a return to his base of political training. The parliamentarian said that the decision is a natural movement to integrate a party project that is more aligned with her worldview.
“It’s time to return to our origins. I believe in a broader, cohesive left project that doesn’t stick to agendas that don’t make sense”he declared.
Regarding negotiations with the new party, Duda stated that the process took place smoothly and consensually: “There is a return to coherence and common beliefs, a larger, long-term project. The party today is different, and I am also different”.
PSOL Strategy
Duda Salabert’s arrival is seen with enthusiasm by the Psol leadership. For the national president of the party, Paula Coradi, the Minas Gerais deputy’s affiliation is a strategic move that reinforces the party’s flags in Congress, especially in the environmental area.
“Duda is a great leader and reference in the environmental struggle in Minas Gerais, with a trajectory marked by commitment to social transformation. His arrival further strengthens our political project”said Coradi.
