US suspends sanctions against interim president of Venezuela

US Treasury Department removes Delcy Rodríguez from sanctions list 3 months after Maduro’s capture

This Wednesday (April 1, 2026), the United States suspended sanctions against the interim president of Venezuela, (MSV, left). The president’s name was removed from the of sanctions from the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Rodríguez was in 2018, also under the government of (Republican Party). The punishment involved freezing assets and banning their entry into North American territory.

The US has granted exemptions from sanctions with the aim of encouraging US investment in Venezuela. The 2 governments signed a commercial agreement involving the sale of Venezuelan oil.

According to Venezuela’s Ministry of Communications, the body responsible for all press requests on behalf of the Venezuelan government, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the lifting of sanctions.
