Fire at hotel in Lisbon requires evacuation and assistance of eight people due to smoke inhalation

This Thursday, eight people were treated for smoke inhalation following a fire in the kitchen of a hotel on Rua da Misericórdia, in Lisbon, which at 05:06 was already extinguished, according to the Firefighters’ Regiment.

“The fire broke out in the hotel’s kitchen, forcing the evacuation of the hotel unit. Eight people were assisted by smoke inhalationbut only one was transported to the hospital”, the same source told Lusa.

The fire alert, which was confined to the hotel kitchen located in the parish of Santa Maria Maior, was reported at 04:30 and at 05:06 the fire was extinguished.

“The people who had been evacuated from the hotel have already returned to the hotel,” said a fire department source, adding that at 6:40 am there was still work to be done.

There were 40 operatives on site, with the support of 12 vehicles.
