The governor of Minas Gerais, Mateus Simões (PSD), defends the unification of the center-right in the electoral dispute in the state, amid the increasing fragmentation of this field.
According to him, who is running for re-election, this will prevent the left from emerging victorious in the state.
“I will work for a single center-right platform in Minas Gerais until the end. I believe in this as a shielding strategy against the left”, he tells the Panel.
This week, he joined the PL with the aim of trying to become a candidate. Another name that has been mentioned for the dispute is senator Cleitinho (Republicans).
According to Simões, Roscoe is his friend and ally. “He actively participated in our government from the beginning and I’m sure he defends the same agendas and flags that we are already practicing here”, said the governor, who inherited the position after (Novo)’s resignation to run for President.
Simões also stated that the businessman would be a great name to join his ticket as vice-president or candidate for the Senate, but stated that these positions will still be discussed.
