With the result, the São Paulo team remains in 1st place and is three points ahead of second place, Fluminense, with 22 points. In the next round, the opponent is Bahia, in Salvador. Grêmio is 10th, with 11 points. Tricolor’s next opponent is Remo, on Sunday (5)
The game
The first big chance of the game came from Grêmio. Enamorado received it from Nardoni, left Giay behind and knocked out. From then on, Palmeiras accumulated chances.
The team from Rio Grande do Sul applied itself to marking, and it was up to Alviverde to find solutions to get rid of the man-to-man situation. Arias, Flaco López and Maurício managed good escapes, but despite the danger, the team was unable to define.
Tricolor responded, as in Carlos Vinícius’ dead ball, which he received from Enamorado and sent a bomb into Carlos Miguel’s goal. The goalkeeper did well and made the save. But it didn’t go beyond that.
The game was truncated, and Palmeiras finally scored the first goal at the end of the first half. From a free kick by Andréas Pereira, Marlon Freitas rose above the defense, alone, and placed it in Weverton’s corner, with no chance for the goalkeeper.
Amuzu came on in the second half, and launched the attack with the first touch of the ball. The individual play is good, but the ball ends up in Carlos Miguel’s hands. It was with him again that Tricolor arrived, but Giay disarmed him. On the field, the referee ordered it to continue, and the players complained about the penalty.
Grêmio tried during the first half to fit the ball to Carlos Vinícius between the markers, and in the second half the move finally worked. He received the launch, dominated, protected and took Bruno Fuchs out of the play to shoot Carlos Miguel’s right corner, leaving everything the same at Arena Barueri.
With the score equal, Grêmio was more comfortable launching a counterattack, and Palmeiras ended up giving more space to their rival. In one of Tricolor’s rises, Amuzu sent it into the draw, making Carlos Miguel stretch to try and make the save.
gave way to Felipe Anderson and Ramón Sosa. Thanks to the midfielder’s insistence, Verdão scored the second goal – he crossed, and the ball fell to Marlon Freitas to finish, first time, in Weverton’s corner.
Palmeiras controlled the final minutes, and Grêmio tried a reaction in search of a draw, but the strategy didn’t work.
