It’s different than it seemed: One crew member of the fighter jet shot down over Iran was saved!

  • One crew member of the downed American fighter over Iran was rescued.
  • Iranian media claim that troops captured the pilot after an unsuccessful search.
  • American media identified the downed plane as possibly a two-seat F-15E.

One crew member of the American fighter jet shot down on Friday over the territory of Iran was rescued. This was reported by CBS News with reference to two anonymous American representatives, writes TASR.

Iranian state media previously reported on the alleged downing of an American F-35 fighter jet. According to their reports, its pilot managed to eject, but a subsequent search mission by the United States failed and he was captured by Iranian forces.

Several American media, including The New York Times (NYT) and the AP agency, have in the meantime brought information that it was apparently a two-seater F-15E fighter, and rescue missions are still ongoing.

US President Donald Trump was also informed about the incident, writes CBS News, referring to the statement of White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the U.S. Department of Defense, and the White House have yet to comment on the reports.
