With the bishop of the Diocese of Rio Branco, Don Joaquin Pertinez, and several priests, in addition to thousands of faithful, the Procession of the Dead Christ begins in Rio Branco, this Good Friday, April 3rd.
In an atmosphere of emotion and reflection, the faithful walk through the streets of Rio Branco singing and praying.
The procession will travel through several streets of the capital of Acre with 27 parishes and will end at Calçadão da Gameleira, where the Musical of the Passion of Christ will be performed, which can be watched by the entire population. The place is prepared with chairs and bleachers.
This year, the procession has a new route, traditionally leaving from Nossa Senhora de Nazaré Cathedral. The exit will be from the Cathedral, via Avenida Brasil. The route will be done as follows:
Leave the Cathedral on Avenida Brasil, turn right onto Rua Floriano Peixoto, turn right onto Rua Rui Barbosa, further on, turn right onto Rua Marechal Deodoro.
Leaving Rua Marechal Deodoro, the faithful will cross the Coronel SebastiĂŁo Dantas Bridge, known as the Concrete Bridge, following Rua Dr. Pereira Passos, turn right onto Rua Seis de Agosto, enter Rua 24 de Janeiro and then Rua Senador Eduardo Asmar. The procession ends at Gameleira.
