Fluminense and Coritiba draw 1-1 at Couto Pereira

Coritiba e Fluminense they drew 1-1 on Saturday night (4), in a match valid for the 10th round of the Brazilian Championship Series A 2026, at the Couto Pereira stadium, in Curitiba.

With the result, Fluminense remains in third place in the Brazilian Championship, now having 20 points, two behind leader Palmeiras. Coritiba now reaches 15 points and occupies seventh place in the table, remaining in the fight for a place in the G-6 of the competition.

In the next round, Fluminense will seek to get back on track to continue chasing leaders Palmeiras and São Paulo.

The game

The duel was marked by a first half of few clear opportunities for both teams. Fluminense found the net in the 16th minute with Kevin Serna, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review, which identified a foul by Rodrigo Castillo in the move.

The match became more emotional in the final stage, when Coritiba opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Josué made an excellent cross from the left wing, and Tiago Coser, just entering the field, anticipated Guilherme Arana to head the ball into the back of the net.

The Paraná team’s advantage lasted just seven minutes. In the 35th minute of the second half, after a free kick from Guilherme Arana, goalkeeper Pedro Rangel failed to exit and John Kennedy, also off the bench, took advantage of the surplus to equalize the score.

Fluminense almost turned the game around in stoppage time, when John Kennedy made a great individual play and finished, but Pedro Rangel redeemed himself with a spectacular save, with the ball still touching the post.
