Actress Karin Olasová, who performed dozens of roles in musicals and dramas on the stage of her home Theater Nová scéna (DNS) in Bratislava, celebrated her 50th birthday on March 31. TASR was informed about this by DNS PR manager Zuzana Šebestová.
Reminds that Karin Olasová became widely known as the winner of the TV show Girl in a Million, she moderated several shows. “But the bulk of her work remains in theater and television,” says the theater about the jubilant actress, who “was the fragile Nastenka in Mrázik, the bloodthirsty musical Báthorychka, the enchanting Elinor in the comedy Rozum a cit.”
Olasová has played several title characters in world and original musicals, as well as in drama. Which ones does she remember the most, and which ones did she struggle with? “I see every performance as a gift. All of them brought me different experiences and new knowledge. However, it is true that some of them resonate a little more strongly in my memories,” says the actress.
She admits that it was a rare opportunity for her to portray the character of Nastenka in the musical fairy tale Mrázik. “I was looking for my dark side in Báthoryčka. Marlene Dietrich was also a beautiful challenge for me. I accepted the role of Elinor in the production Rozum a cit with great gratitude. She resonated with my inner values - with my ‘I’. As well as the character of Gizi, the wife of František Krištof Veselý in the performance of Bonviván, which we still play today,” reveals Olasová. “And last but not least, by a coincidence of unexpected circumstances, I also found myself in the musical Bedári as Fantine, where working with the director Marie Zamora was a great school for me,” added.
Karin Olasová is a native of Trenčín, she has been a part of Bratislava’s Nova scéna since she was a student, and has been a permanent member of the company since 2008. For almost two decades, she has played many different characters in musicals and plays. “In them, she fully showed her strength and fragility, musical spirit, acting and singing qualities, comedic lightness and brought charm and beauty to the stage,” notes DNS about the actress, who also acted, for example, in the television series Susedia and Drůh dych. He cooperates with radio and with dubbing.
Together with their life partner and actor Přemysl Boublík, they are raising their son Oliver, who is following in his parents’ footsteps and has acted with his mother in, for example, the musicals Jánošík and Oliver!
