Image was taken on Sunday (April 5) by astronauts from the Artemis 2 mission, before the lunar approach
The United States space agency released the last record that the mission crew took of the Earth before flying over the Moon. The image was taken on Sunday (April 5, 2026) and shows the Earth as a small dot seen from the window of the Orion capsule.
“One last look at Earth before we reach the Moon”says on social network X.
This Monday (April 6), astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, from NASA, and Jeremy Hansen, from the Canadian Space Agency, carry out a 6-hour flyby around Earth’s natural satellite.
NASA’s mission control center predicts that the crew will begin lunar observations at 3:45 pm (Brasília time). At 7:44 pm there will be a loss of communication with the astronauts, which will be resumed at 8:25 pm. The end of the flyover is scheduled for 10:20 pm.
