The president of the Central Bank, Gabriel Galípolo, said this Wednesday that in a meeting he participated in with the presence of Daniel Vorcaro in 2024, president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva told the banker that Banco Master would be treated in a technical way by the monetary authority.
In a hearing at the Senate’s Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) on organized crime, Galípolo stated that he did not later discuss the Master’s issue with the government or with members of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
Banco Master was the target of extrajudicial liquidation ordered by the BC last year, and Vorcaro, its owner, was arrested following PF operations investigating suspected billion-dollar fraud and alleged compromise of the authorities’ investigations.
At the hearing, Galípolo also said that he recently called the minister of the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU), rapporteur of the investigation into the liquidation of Master by the BC, and asked if there is a forecast for the conclusion of the case and a vote by the plenary. According to him, the answer was that the process remains open.
