The Union of Official Education Teachers of the State of São Paulo (Apeosp) called for a teacher strike for Thursday and Friday, April 9th and 10th. The category claims the salary adjustment according to the national minimum, professional development, better working conditions and changes in educational policies.

The mobilization agenda also includes other points, such as withdrawal of Bill (PL) 1316, which deals with Administrative Education Reformand so on revocation of the Performance Assessmentconsidered unfair by the category. Teachers also ask opening of classes for regular education and Youth and Adult Education (EJA) in the evening and inclusive Special Educationwhich meets the needs of atypical and disabled students.

“The strike is the result of a deliberation of the assembly on the 6thwhen we also stopped. We are giving continuation of the salary campaignwhich also asks return of confiscation from pensionersamong other things. Add to that PL 1316, which is yet another attack on education and which we want to see removed, because it deals with assessments that punish teachers, with the possibility of mandatory removal”, said the interim president of Apeoesp, Roberto Guido.

Another point highlighted by the entity is the implementation of goal 17 of the National Education Plan (PNE), which provides for the salary equalization of basic education teachers with other higher education professionals. The movement also questions the so-called “education platformization”which refers to the intensive integration of private company platforms into learning and classroom routine.

On Friday, at 4pm, an assembly will be held at Vão Livre do MASP, on Avenida Paulista, to decide the direction of the strike.
