The secretary-general of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, on Wednesday (8) one day after the announcement of the truce between the United States and Iran.
In a statement, Guterres lamented “the loss of civilian lives” and said he was “deeply alarmed by the growing impact” of the offensive on the Lebanese population.
The UN chief further stated that the attacks pose “a serious risk to the ceasefire and efforts towards lasting and comprehensive peace in the region” and called for an immediate end to hostilities.
