Some hospitals in Lebanon could run out of life-saving supplies in the coming days. Its supplies are dwindling after Israeli attacks with a large number of victims. The World Health Organization (WHO) stated this on Thursday, TASR reports according to the Reuters agency.
According to the WHO, supplies of bandages, antibiotics and anesthetics to treat patients who have suffered war-related injuries are running out. “We are short on some medical supplies to treat injuries and may run out in a few days,” WHO representative in Lebanon Abdinásir Abubakar told Reuters.
Israel bombed more targets in Lebanon on Thursday after Wednesday’s most extensive strikes to date since the beginning of the current war with the Hezbollah militant movement, which they claimed more than 250 lives and 1000 injured. They also threaten the ceasefire between the US and Iran.
“If we have any more mass casualties like yesterday, it will be a disaster. We will probably lose more lives just because we don’t have enough supplies.” Abubakar added. According to him, in a single day they ran out of supplies, which are usually enough for three weeks. In addition, the war in the Persian Gulf and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz have disrupted the supply of medicines for patients with chronic diseases, such as insulin.
