Fortaleza captain detonates SAF and sends a message to the CEO: “This is not a company”

The defeat in the Clasico-Rei this Wednesday (8), by Northeast Cup, provoked a strong reaction behind the scenes of the Fortaleza. Team captain, defender Emanuel Brítez raised his tone after the 2-0 defeat for Ceará and directed criticism at the club’s SAF CEO, Pedro Martins.

In an interview with Jangadeiro TV, Leão do Pici’s number 2 highlighted the need for internal unity and highlighted that the football environment requires a different approach to business logic.

“Also send a message to our CEO: this is not a company, it’s a football team, and in the football team we all have to move forward together, otherwise it will be difficult. That’s the message I have for him”, said the defender.

In addition to the off-field charge, Brítez analyzed Fortaleza’s performance in . Even with an extra player since the first half — after the expulsion of Fernandinho, from Ceará —, Leão do Pici were unable to transform the numerical advantage into a positive result.

“The Classic is won. We played a good game, but that’s the detail. One mistake, 1-0. It’s difficult. We fought, conceded the second goal, the game ended. It’s not the first time it’s happened. We have to be aware that this type of game is like this: you make a mistake and it’s not forgiven”, he added.

The result extended Fortaleza’s fast in the Clásico-Rei. There are already 14 matches without beating their biggest rival, increasing the pressure on the squad and in the middle of the season.

Fortaleza will return to the field this Sunday (12), when they face São Bernardo, at 6pm (Brasília time), at Estádio 1º de Maio. The match is valid for the 4th round of Series B of the Brazilian Championship.
