The German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs wants to link retirement age to life expectancy

Federal Minister of Economics Katherina Reiche (CDU) wants to link the retirement age to life expectancy and make it possible to take company pensions with you when changing jobs. “The retirement age must be carefully but firmly linked to increasing life expectancy,” writes Reiche in a guest article for the “Handelsblatt” (Friday edition). There is also support for this idea from the coalition partner SPD. Reiche also advocated that there should be tax-free severance payments for employees if they have subsequent employment.
