“I am not a victim of Epstein.” Melania wanted to clarify everything (but didn't help Trump)

US First Lady Melania Trump speaks in the Grand Foyer of the White House in Washington, DC, USA, April 9, 2026.

“I didn’t know anything.” First lady explained how she really met the US president. Ttried to sweep under the rug a controversy that was beginning to hide behind Iran. You could have done worse.

The American First Lady, Melania Trumpsought this Thursday to publicly distance itself from the controversy surrounding the pedophile Jeffrey Epsteinin an unexpected statement from the White House that rekindled a flame that, over the last month, had been extinguished, overshadowed by the new war in Iran.

The wife of the US president assured that was not a victim of Epstein and denied that the tycoon who died in 2019 introduced her to Trump.

“As lies calling me to the disgraced Jeffrey Epstein has to end today”, began warning the first lady, who spoke of “ignorant attempts to defame” her reputation.

The intervention would have surprised Washington, especially since, in recent days, nothing had been pointed out against him in the press in this regard.

Even so, Melania wanted to clarify everything. She said she had never been friends with the financier and explained that she only met him occasionally in social circles in New York and Florida, when she was dating Donald Trump.

“I was never friends with Epstein. Donald and I were invited to the same parties than Epstein, from time to time. People often cross paths in social circles in New York and Palm Beach,” he explained.

“Let’s be clear: I never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell,” said Melania, who at this point sought to explain the exchange of emails in 2002 with the pedophile’s girlfriend, Ghislaine, serving 20 years in prison for sex trafficking of minors, conspiracy to entice minors and conspiracy to transport minors for the purpose of carrying out illicit sexual acts.

“My email response to her was nothing more than casual correspondence. It was just a trivial note”, he assured: “I’m not a victim of Epstein, he didn’t introduce me to Donald Trump. I met him at a party in New York in 1998”.

“The first time I met Epstein was in 2000, at an event I went to with Donald. I had never met him nor knew of his crimes.“, continued the first lady.

Regarding the images and rumors that have appeared on social media “for years”, she acknowledges”, Melania Trump warns: “be careful what you believe”, it is all “completely false”.

Melania also said that not a witness of any of the criminal acts committed by the financier.

Contrary to what is heard in those published by journalist Michael Wolff in 2024, Melania also guaranteed that she “never was on Epstein’s plane” and “never visited his private island”.

By defending, at the end of the statement, that “every woman” should be able to publicly tell her story, Melania ended up “stinging” even more those who demand justice in the case.

Democrats in Congress took the opportunity to ask Melania Trump to testify under oath, which could turn the episode into a new focus of confrontation between the White House and the Capitol, if the Democrats regain parliamentary control in November.

Donald Trump also continues to this day to deny any wrongdoing related to Epstein and to assure that he cut ties with the pedophile in the early 2000s, before his crimes were known.
