“Fortunately, no one was hurt. We are very appreciative of how quickly the San Francisco Police Department responded and how the city helped keep our employees safe. The person in question is in custody and we are assisting the security forces with the investigation,” OpenAI said in a statement.
She stated that the person also threatened to burn down her San Francisco mansion. Altman has not publicly commented on the alleged attack. According to the police statement, she received the report of the attack at 04:12 Pacific Time (13:12 CEST). According to him, an unknown man threw “an incendiary destructive device at Altman’s house, which caused the outer gate to catch fire.” The suspect fled the scene.
At 05:07 (14:07 CEST) they received another report that “an unknown man is threatening to set fire to the building” of OpenAI’s headquarters. “When the police arrived at the scene, they recognized the man from the previous incident and immediately detained him,” it was extinguished.
