What’s actually going on with the Waldviertel? It wasn’t long ago when this northernmost region of the republic was known above all for the fact that, in the best case scenario, you don’t have to go that far into the Wachau (officially Waldviertel!) or into the Kamptal (also Waldviertel anyway) to get something between your teeth. And it’s true: the good inns up there are no longer there. But this is at least as true for the rest of the country.
