Man claiming to be “Lucifer” entered train station with machete. Attacked three people in New York

Victims’ lives are not at risk. They were transported to the hospital. Attacker was shot dead by police

A man armed with a machete attacked three people at Grand Central Station in New York. He ended up shot dead by the police, in an attack that forced trains to be diverted in what is the largest railway center in the country.

The suspect hit an 84-year-old man and a 65-year-old man in the head and face. Furthermore, he left a 70-year-old woman with cuts on her shoulder during the attack on the platform.

Police said the attacker, Anthony Griffin, 44, ignored repeated commands to drop the weapon, calling himself “Lucifer.”

The crime scene was isolated. There was blood and a machete on the platform.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has already praised police officers for their quick response, adding that footage from police body cameras would be released.

According to police, the attacker ignored at least 20 orders to drop the weapon and “advanced toward the officers with the knife extended.”

The three victims were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Although the attacker had already recorded three arrests, none of them identified him as a person with emotional disturbances.
