Timão began to recover from a crisis, in which they went nine matches without winning. The sequence led to the departure of coach Dorival Júnior, who was fired after the defeat to Internacional, in the Brasileirão.

For the match, Corinthians has significant absences. The coaching staff will not include: André Ramalho (suspended), Kaio César (thigh injury), Memphis Depay (thigh injury) and Gui Negão (thigh injury).
João Pedro Tchoca, Pedro Milans and Charles, absent against Platense for physical reasons, are considered doubts.
