Jannik Sinner won the Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo for the first time and thus climbed the tennis throne again. The Italian defeated his Spanish opponent Carlos Alcaraz in two sets 7:6(5),6:3 in the final of the clay court tournament on Sunday and thus took the number 1 position in the world rankings away from him. For Sinner, after the “Sunshine Double” in Indian Wells and Miami, it was the next big triumph at a “thousand” tournament.
