In the history of direct confrontations, this was the Italian’s seventh victory against 10 for the Spaniard
Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner won the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 title this Sunday (12) by defeating the current champion, Carlos Alcaraz, in the final, thus dethroning the Spaniard from the top of the world rankings.
Sinner, 24, overcame Alcaraz with splits of 7-6 (7/5) and 6-3 in 2 hours and 15 minutes in the first duel between the two since the start of the season.
In the history of direct confrontations, this was the Italian’s seventh victory against 10 for the Spaniard.
Sinner thus wins his third consecutive Masters 1000 title in 2026, following his triumphs in Indian Wells and Miami, which means he has won all the titles in this category (which is second only to the Grand Slams) played so far this season.
