Magyar has clear plans after winning the elections: If there was a will, we would like to… It concerns V4!

The government of the Hungarian Tisza party would like to strengthen the cooperation of the countries of the Vyšehrad Four (V4) – the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. This was said on Monday at a press conference by the chairman of the Tisza party, Péter Magyar, whose party won a constitutional majority in the National Assembly in Sunday’s parliamentary elections, according to the incomplete results, the TASR correspondent in Budapest reports.

  • The Tisza party won the constitutional majority of votes in the Hungarian parliamentary elections.
  • Péter Magyar, as Tisza leader, plans to strengthen the cooperation of the Visegrad Four countries.
  • Magyar is considering connecting the Vyšehrad cooperation with the Slavkov format in the region.
  • He wants to involve Slovenia and Croatia in the expanded format of Central European cooperation.
  • The goal is a strong Central Europe within a strengthened European Union.

Magyar emphasized that his intention is – if there is a will and an opportunity – to expand V4 cooperation. “There is the Slavkov format (a platform for the cooperation of the Czech Republic, Austria and Slovakia) and the Vyšehrad Four, which could join, merge, and we could even invite other EU member states: Slovenia and Croatia,” said Chairman Tiszy.

As he added, he would very much like a strong Central Europe within a strong European Union with all the advantages, which result from this, such as economic and cultural cooperation or infrastructural connections.
