Uzbek Sindarov booked a ticket for the duel for the World Cup title

Toronto – The Uzbek Jawokhir Sindarov has won the chess candidate tournament in Cyprus early for participation in the duel for the world title and is thus challenging defending champion Dommaraju Gukesh. The 19-year-old Indian has held the World Cup crown since December 2024. It is not yet clear when the 20-year-old grandmaster Sindarov will face Gukesh. (APA, April 14, 2026)
