Trump attacks Pope Leo XIV and condemns Iranian nuclear program

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, once again criticized Pope Leo XIV this Wednesday (15) and said it was “unacceptable” for Iran to have a nuclear bomb.

In a post on social media, Trump mocked the pontiff’s recent statements against the war in the Middle East.

“Can someone please tell Pope Leo that Iran has killed at least 42,000 innocent and completely unarmed protesters in the last two months,” the American president wrote.

In the post, Trump also criticized the Iranian nuclear program, one of the main points for ending the conflict.

“It is absolutely unacceptable for Iran to have a nuclear bomb. Thank you for your attention to this matter. THE UNITED STATES IS BACK!!!”, he concluded.

The crisis between Trump and Pope Leo XIV was triggered on Sunday (12), when the American president wrote in a long post on social media.

In the text, Trump called the pope “terrible at foreign policy” and stated that Leo XIV was only elected pope “because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump.”

Trump further wrote that Leo XIV should “behave like a pope, use common sense, stop pandering to the radical left and focus on being a great pope, not a politician” and said the pontiff was harming the Catholic Church.
