Former deputy Alexandre Ramagem was released this Wednesday (15) after being initially arrested by the Immigration and Customs Control Service (ICE). The information was confirmed by Young Pan.

He is a fugitive from Brazilian justice. Ramagem was sentenced to 16 years in prison for attempted coup d’état by the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
Ramagem’s mandate was revoked on December 18, the same day that the Chamber of Deputies also declared the loss of the mandate of Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), son of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
Former director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin)Ramagem was convicted of participating in the coup attempt to reverse the result of the 2022 elections. After his conviction, he left the country and fled to the USA in September.
At the end of January, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security informed the STF that the former federal deputy’s extradition request was delivered to the United States government on December 30, 2025.
Preventive detention
