Organizer of the event, Gilmar Mendes stated in an interview with “Band” that the Lisbon Forum will debate “new world order”
Minister Gilmar Mendes, of the Federal Supreme Court, stated that the 2026 edition of , as the Lisbon Forum became known, will address the relationship of (Republican Party) in world conflicts.
In an interview with Bandbroadcast on Friday (April 17, 2026), the minister declared: “What is the new international order with Trump, Maduro in Venezuela or attacking other countries? We have to understand.”
Among the topics that will be discussed by guests at the event, organized by the minister, is also “digital sovereignty”. To illustrate the point, he cited the use of the Magnitsky law against STF minister Alexandre de Moraes.
In July, Trump placed Moraes on the list of people sanctioned under the Magnitsky law, which imposes a series of sanctions on those involved in serious human rights violations. In December, Trump backtracked.
According to Gilmar, the consequences of the law need to be debated. “They [Moraes e família] They couldn’t use a credit card, they couldn’t book a hotel, they couldn’t travel.”
In addition to Trump’s actions, Gilmar stated that the agreement and the development of Artificial Intelligence in Brazil will be highlights.
