Lula needs to “tune the orchestra” to be re-elected, says minister

“Flávio Bolsonaro will not be able to disguise himself”, said Wellington Dias, coordinator of the PT campaign in the Northeast

Cast as part of the president’s (PT) campaign, the Minister of Social Development (PT) stated that the PT member needs “tune the orchestra” to be re-elected in the October election. The statement was given to journalists Danielle Brant and Vera Rosa, from , on Saturday (April 18, 2026).

The minister said that this year’s election will be easier than that of 2022, when Lula was the then president (PL) by a difference of 2 million votes.

“What’s missing? We need to organize the orchestra. The orchestra still has instruments that are out of tune. Now it’s time to tune the instruments. But we have a good repertoire”he declared.

Dias said there is room for improvement in communication from the PT administration. “It is necessary that in each place, each councilor, social leader, deputy, pre-candidate, mayor, in other words, each supporter can be in tune with those points that the population values. Who doesn’t know that President Lula works with social priority? But few people are talking, for example, about the economic effects”he declared.

The coordinator stated that one of the strategies planned by the PT is to attack the “inexperience” of the senator (PL-RJ). He said that the election should be polarized between Lula and the former president’s son.

“In practice, it’s as if 2 camps were crystallized: the most humane and the inhumane. On the one hand, the appreciation of life with the vaccine. On the other, he becomes an alligator if he takes the vaccine. As much as Flávio Bolsonaro wants to disguise himself, he won’t be able to. This project that he wants to return to is gone. It’s not new”said the minister.

“Do we want a Brazil in conflict, a colony of the United States? No. We want a Brazil of peace”he declared.
