Former leader of the PS stopped being a deputy in October, shortly before the vote on the State Budget.

The former general secretary of the PS Pedro Nuno Santos or return to parliament tomorrow, Wednesday, to resume the mandate of deputy which he had suspended six months ago, he confirmed to the Lusa agency.

On October 9, 2025, Pedro Nuno Santos had announced to Lusa that he would suspend his deputy mandate from October 24, only 4 days before of discussion and voting in the majority of the State Budget to 2026.

The former PT leader was replaced in these six months by the deputy Lia Ferreira.

After the electoral setback of the legislative elections in May last year, Pedro Nuno Santos left the PS leadership on election night, having been replaced by José Luís Carneiro in the position.

The following month, June, Pedro Nuno Santos with Lusa who “for now” would assume the mandate of deputy in the new legislature.

Four months later, he left. The suspension request was then justified with “weighty reason of a personal and professional nature” – although it was speculated that he left at that moment to prevent the AD Budget from being made viablewhich was confirmed.

Meanwhile, the former PT leader works at his father’s company, Tecmacal, associated with the footwear, headquartered in São João da Madeira.
