The leader of the PT (Workers’ Party) in the Chamber of Deputies, Pedro Uczai (SC), asked more time to vote on the legal framework for critical minerals that It has been in progress since last year.
The proposal that creates the National Critical Minerals Policy was iincluded in this Wednesday’s agenda (22) for voting by the Chamber plenary.
In a post on a social network, the parliamentarian stated that he was surprised to be included on the agenda and argued “It would not be appropriate to vote on such a complex and nationally relevant topic right after a long weekend and even on a remote motorcycle”.
Uczai recalls that the report by deputy Arnaldo Jardim (Cidadania-SP), rapporteur of the original proposal, has not yet been presented and that the benches had little time to analyze the project.
The PT also presented a project on the topic, proposing the creation of a public company to “guarantee national control and sovereignty” over critical minerals, Terrabras. He highlights that the party wants more time to discuss the project itself, confirms its interest in voting on a regulatory framework for rare earths and critical minerals, but does not accept “voting in this rush without a more in-depth dialogue”.
The Chamber plenary session is called for 2pm.
