The governor of , (PSD), said this Tuesday (21) that he was “white envy” of his counterpart from São Paulo, (Republicans), for having the Military Police of .
The expression, which is considered racist, was mentioned by Simões at the traditional ceremony to award the Inconfidência Medal, in Ouro Preto.
Tarcísio received the Grande Colar, the event’s main honor, intended exclusively for heads of State, Government and other Powers of the Union.
‘White envy’ is considered a racist expression because it uses a light color to minimize a bad feeling.
The column asked, in an email sent at 12:35 pm this Tuesday, for a position from the Government of Minas and also sent messages to WhatsApp from Simões’ personal advisor, but did not receive a response until the publication of this text.
When contacted, the Government of Minas did not respond until the publication of this text.
“I told Governor Tarcísio about my white envy that he had appointed the first female Military Police commander, but I told him: ‘you didn’t win the race, because in Minas we already have a military commander who commands our firefighters with great pride, Colonel Jordana'”, said Simões.
Colonel Jordana Filgueiras Daldegan was appointed last year by then-governor Romeu Zema (Novo) as the first woman to command the Minas Fire Department.
Simões, who is expected to run for reelection, seeks to attract other right-wing parties to his coalition, such as Tarcísio’s Republicans.
Another target is the PL, whose representative at the ceremony was Senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), coordinator of the presidential pre-campaign, who received the Grand Medal, the second main honor.
