Stronger winds may occur in the west of Slovakia and in the districts of Kežmarok and Poprad on Thursday afternoon. This is pointed out by the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ), which issued warnings of the first level. He informs about it on his website.

The warnings apply to the entire Bratislava and Trnava regions and the districts of Myjava, Komárno, Nitra, Nové Zámky, Šaľa, Kežmarok and Poprad. Occasionally, the wind there can reach an average speed of 45 kilometers per hour (km/h), with gusts of 65 to 70 km/h. V in northern districts it can be in gusts of 65 to 85 km/h. The warnings are provisionally valid from 12:00 to 18:00, in the north until 20:00.

Stronger winds must still be expected in the mountains of the Banskobystrické, Žilina and Prešovské regions. These are the districts of Banská Bystrica, Brezno, Liptovský Mikuláš, Ružomberok, Tvrdošín and Poprad. Above the forest zone, meteorologists expect wind gusts of 110 to 135 km/h, with an average of 70 to 85 km/h, which is up to a gale. “The predicted wind speed represents a potential hazard for human activities, especially for hiking, mountain climbing,” reminds SHMÚ. The warnings are valid until Friday (April 24) at 02:00 a.m.
