JBJ Agropecuária (or JBJ Investimentos), owned by José Batista Júnior (“Júnior Friboi”), made the purchase of Fazenda Conforto, located in Nova Crixás (GO).
The companies communicated that they still need to approve the negotiation. The value was not disclosed.
Fazenda Conforto is recognized as one of the largest in Brazil. The farm wasfounded in 1996, by businessman and former Stock Car driver, Alexandre Funari Negrãoknown as Xandy Negrão. After his death in 2023, the property passed to the heirs of the Negrão family group.
The property has the capacity to produce around 180 thousand cattle per year, being a reference in sustainability.
Although Júnior Friboi is the brother of Joesley and Wesley Batista (owners of J&F Investimentoscontroller of JBS), JBJ has operated independently since 2012, but sells large volumes of cattle (billions) to JBS.
According to a document that the law firm Cescon Barrieu filed with Cade, the agreement between JBJ and Conforto covers the entire property, including the rural property, improvements, productive infrastructure, facilities and equipment. Biological assets, such as livestock, are not included in the operation.
The parties involved requested Cade to carry out the summary procedure. In the request, they argued that, “from any plausible perspective”, the operation does not raise competition concerns.
